This command puts some fairly powerful database search commands at your fingertips. A dialog box will appear after choosing this command which contains a list of all of the fields of a label record, three radio buttons, a checkbox, and a text box.
Select the field which you would to search by clicking on it. Then click on the appropriate radio button—if you would like to find fields which match exactly what you enter, don’t match what you enter or contain what you enter. Then enter the search criteria in the text box.
If the All Occurrences checkbox is checked, Label Manager will select all occurrences which match the criteria in addition to any labels you may have selected. If it not checked it will deselect any selected labels and select only the first label it finds which matches the criteria. You use this in conjunction with the Select Next... command (see below).
For instance, if you would like to select all labels in which the state is CT, click on the state field in the list, click on the Is radio button, type CT into the text box, and make sure the All Occurrences checkbox is checked. Then click on the OK button and Label Manager will almost instantaneously select all labels in which the state is CT.
The Select... command also allows for wildcard searches. If you type an asterisk (*) at the end of the search criteria, Label Manager will look for labels that begin with (or don’t begin with, depending on which search option you are using) the text before the asterisk. For instance, if in the example above you typed C* into the text box instead of CT, Label Manager would have selected all labels in which the state begins with the letter C.
Label Manager will not distinguish between upper and lower case, because it is much more convenient that way. For instance, if the search criteria you entered was ct, cT, Ct, or CT, it wouldn’t matter because it would be treated the same way.
